Do you put yourself last on the list making sure everyone’s needs are met before your own?
This is often our tendency and when we slow down enough to realize we’ve put ourselves last on the list, it can be overwhelming. Truth be told, it is the little things that you do for yourself, and just for you, that make all of the difference. Those little things add up and soon you realize your needs are just as important as your family and others around you. You begin to look and feel better.
One of the easiest and most pampering things you can do just for you is an at-home pedicure. Of course you can always pay for a pedicure at a salon, but that takes time and money that many of us, considering our current conditions, are in short supply of.
So with feet dry and stuck in boots all winter, it’s time for a little foot pampering to get those feet ready for all your sandals, flip flops and open-toe shoes.
- Begin by removing all polish from your toe nails with a non-drying acetone free nail polish remover.
- Soak your feet in warm soapy water for at least 10 minutes
- Using a pumice stone or foot file, remove dead skin on heels, sides of feet and areas where calluses are forming.
- Using a file or clippers create a square shape with each toe nail. A curved nail shape can contribute to the nail growing into the skin creating an ingrown toe nail and resulting infection.
- Apply olive oil or Avasiare Take It Off to the cuticle area and nail surface of each toe, gently push back the cuticle from the nail base of each toe with an orange stick or sterilized cuticle pusher
- Apply more olive oil or Avasiare Take it Off to the entire foot and over your ankle. Message your foot using deep circles up and around the ankle and message your Achilles heel with an up and down motion to relax the tendon. Rub up and down your calf, using firm pressure, to relax the muscle.
- Apply Avasiare Heel Crack attack on the entire foot. Put a pair of your most comfy socks and let the healing benefits of Avocado Oil and Lemon Balm moisturize your feet for at least 30 minutes, and for maximum benefits, overnight.
- Nail polish will not adhere to an oily surface; use your nail polish remover to remove any traces of oil from the nail.
- Apply a clear coat to each nail and allow to dry. Apply a nail polish color of your choice, and finish with a clear coat.
If you are lucky enough to enjoy a night alone with your significant other, let them help you with your pedicure. There are many erogenous zones in the feet, touch is both healthy and healing.
